CHESTER SPRINGS, PA. - April 27, 2012 (WPVI) -- When West Pikeland Township was forced to cut funding for the Chester Springs Library, the Friends of the Library took action.
"We decided to do an event to raise the money that township couldn't give us," explains Sale Organizer Noreen Vigilante. "So, we're looking to raise about $50,000 to support the local contribution for the library so that the county and state funding will kick in."
They spent weeks collecting items for what they're calling a Community Estate Sale this weekend.
It will run from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, through Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Tom Oates Automotive Center. And the array of items is astounding.
Vigilante says, "People have been amazingly generous. We have all kinds of art, jewelry, furniture, everything. You name it, we have it. The only thing we wouldn't take were computers. mattresses and clothing."
There's even a "Treasure Room" full of antiques, which were appraised by a professional. The prices were then slashed in half. For example, there's an antique doll bed for $200 and an intricate papercut for $400.
But not everything is so pricey. A mirrored hat rack is priced at $100. A leaded glass fixture is $85 and a lamp is just $4.
You can pick up decorations for Christmas or Halloween or a 32-piece set of china, which is priced at $55. A Baby Einstein playset is $12 and a leather recliner is priced at $125.
On Sunday, whatever inventory is left will be 50% off.
