May 7, 2012 (WPVI) -- Model and fashion designer Daniella Clarke has expensive taste, but she still likes to save money.
Clarke bought a $2500 Nicole Murphy necklace for $1000.
"This bracelet, with this little heart on it, retailed for... I think it was $780, and I got it for $260," she exclaims while showing off a bracelet she's wearing.
She found her deals through a new designer flash-sale site called LuxeYard.com.
"Each day, our members will get an email letting them know what we have on the site," she explains.
Sales on Luxeyard last about 72 hours, with most items selling for 50% to 70% off regular retail.
There are also Group Buys, which have prices that drop as more people order them . And members can also save money by getting their friends to shop.
Clarke adds, "Another way to save is by referring more people to the site. The more people you refer, the more you get dollars toward your next purchase."
There's no doubt that flash sale sites like LuxeYard offer discounts. But savvy shoppers know the items are only bargains if you're going to use them. And they avoid the temptation to give into the pressure of feeling you have to shop quickly.
Clarke suggests having a shopping list in mind and buying items only for specific occasions.
And take some time to make sure it's really a deal.
She says, "I would definitely do your regular research and then take a look at what the site has to offer you and if it's something that you're really looking for, and something that your'e really coveting. Don't just
buy it because it's a deal. But buy it because you really love the item."
