Saving with 6abc: Summer Weddings

June 17, 2013 (WPVI) -- Time now to save with 6abc, and a few simple tips here that could help you afford the summer wedding season.

For those ever-more-popular destination weddings, and this one is simple, and underused: All of those travel websites out there have a little box on the search menu that allows you to search nearby airports. That means you may not fly out of Philadelphia, but rather A-C or Newark, but the price could be dramatically lower. Turns out only one in five users of those website ever do that, which means 4 out of 5 could be paying more than they need to pay.

This one for the ladies, both brides to be or those in weddings. There are a lot of rental websites popping up these days that let you rent bridal party dresses for a fraction of the cost. We found one called Little Borrowed Dress, it stocks up silk dresses for $50 to $75, saving you and your friends lots.

Finally, plenty of people use OpenTable.com to book dinner reservations, but never actually sign up for the service. If you simply sign up, and make a habit of booking your plans through the website, even for your corner bar where you might not need to, you can rack up huge points and get rewards that could help slash your bill the next time you eat out.
