BENSALEM, Pa. - August 15, 2013 (WPVI) -- There's a multi-consigner sale just in time for back-to-school shopping season! Plus, the event is helping local charities.
Gymboree outfits -- new with tags and complete with accessories -- for $15 to $17. An Imaginarium Discovery walker, in the box, for $15. Lunch boxes and backpacks for just $2 to $5.
Thursday at St. Ephrem's Marian Parish Center in Bensalem, dozens of volunteers sorted through more than 35,000 items from more than 300 consigners, all of which go on sale Saturday during the Lil Angles Consignment Sale.
Prices average about 75% off full retail. Some examples: a boy's pea coat from Children's Place for $8; Barbie dolls, in their boxes, for $3 to $12; or a Combi double stroller for $40.
It's the 5th year for this sale, which started as a church fundraiser. However, it has grown into a big philanthropic effort.
"Now we help all kinds of organizations, like Cradles to Crayons in Philadelphia, Head Start of Bucks County, all different hospitals and churches and individual families," said Sonia Matura of the Lil Angels Consignment Sale.
Matura says the victims of last month's fire at the Racquet Club apartments will be among those who will benefit from the sale this year.
