Woman dragged out of restaurant and raped

Friday, November 20, 2009

Police are investigating a savage attack against a woman in West Philadelphia.

It began when the woman entered the Lee Lei Restaurant at 56th and Walnut around 11:00 p.m. Thursday to get some food.

While she was inside, police said, six unknown men approached her, then fondled her. At some point, they forced her to go with them.

Police say they took the woman against her will out of the restaurant, then hustled her across the street to an alley, then into a first-floor apartment.

That's where, police say, she was raped and sexually assaulted.

The 24-year-old victim struggled and screamed. Someone heard her and called police.

Officers were able to get inside and found all six suspects, caught in the act.

They will be charged with rape, sexual assault and other offenses.

The suspects ranged in age from 16 to 52. Three of the suspects are teenagers.

The victim was treated for her injuries and is now recovering at home.
