Police: Del. teacher had inappropriate relationship with student

MILLSBORO, Del. - February 1, 20111 (WPVI) -- A Laurel High School teacher is facing numerous charges after police say they discovered the teacher was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Delaware State Police began investigating Thomas Stetina, 42 of Millsboro, Monday after being notified of the possible relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

As a result of anonymous information received and information obtained during the course of their criminal investigation, police learned that Stetina provided alcohol to the student as well as marijuana on at least two occasions.

Delaware State Police also learned the incidents are alleged to have occurred at Stetina's residence as well as the student's.

Delaware State Police charged Stetina with 2 counts of Distribution of (Marijuana) a Non-Narcotic Controlled Substance to a Minor, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Providing Alcohol to an Underage Person. Stetina is being held at Sussex Correctional Institute on $4,600.00 secured bond.
