UPPER DARBY, Pa. - September 16, 2011 (WPVI) -- Police say two women have been arrested in a burglary and vandalism spree in Upper Darby, Pa.
They are identified as 19-year-old Harley Rose Gifford and 19-year-old Britney Singleton.
Police say, since July 25th, they broke into 25 Upper Darby homes and four in Prospect Park - stealing everything from TVs to cash, statues, jewelry and even a gun.
They were arrested in their Upper Darby apartment on Thursday night.
"We dubbed them as the 'Thelma and Louise' bandits because their crimes were escalating," said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. Police say they will be arraigned on Saturday. Sources tell Action News they have confessed to everything.
One of the victims, Curtistine Willis, said she left her house on Kent Road for a short while on Tuesday afternoon and when returned she found her home, which she shares with her 12-year-old daughter, was ransacked, especially her second floor bedroom.
The bandits also made their way into the bathroom.
"They went through my medicine and they took my medicine; the medicine cabinet was destroyed, so it was really bad," Willis said.
Superintendent Chitwood said on Thursday that his police officers are comparing notes with other nearby townships to see of the two may be responsible for burglaries there.
