December 12, 2006 (WPVI) -- The woman who allegedly came between Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston is speaking out in a letter to two newspapers.
Laura Mallory Lane, a 20-year-old Trinity University junior and Allentown native, wrote that she has no regrets about her one night with Vince.
She is remorseful about sending a detailed email to friends describing their night in a Budapest hotel room. The email eventually wound up in the pages of the tabloid magazine The Star.
"I stand by the belief that while I may have made an error in judgment, I did nothing to deliberately hurt anyone else, and acted as many young women in my position would," wrote Lane in the letter sent to The Morning Call and the San Antonio Express-News.
News about Lane's tryst with Vaughn broke last week as the media learned that he and Aniston had called it quits.
According to reports, on November 25th, Vaughn befriended three female students in a Budapest restaurant. The students, including Lane, were on holiday while studying in Rome. What followed is documented in an email reportedly titled, "I shacked up with Vince Vaughn" that Lane allegedly sent to 22 of her Gamma sorority sisters.
"My biggest mistake was putting my personal life in an email that could be exaggerated, embellished, shared with others against my intentions," she wrote.
Lane claims they did not have sex, but spent the night talking and smoking cigarettes.
"It goes without being said that I have certainly learned my lessons about the dangers of the Internet," Lane wrote. "The amount of information that can be acquired on you is astounding and scary, and one can never be too careful."
Lane has closed down her own blog, but she tells the Express-News that she is still writing, only on paper.
"In the last few weeks my world has become a whirlwind of reporters, publicists, cruel websites and harassments from people who feel my business is theirs as well," she wrote.
Lane said she has received tremendous support from her family and Trinity University. She plans to spend Christmas with her family in Allentown before returning to school next month.
In the end, Lane is finding humor in the whole affair.
"When you pick up a magazine and find your high school yearbook and school play photos next to two of America's hottest celebs, there is not much else you can do but laugh," she wrote.
