Former 6abc host Al Alberts has died

Al Alberts, an award-winning performer and host of the long-running 6abc program "Al Alberts Showcase," passed away Friday morning.

He was 87 years old.

Alberts rose to fame as the lead singer of the quartet "The Four Aces," a group that went on to sell millions of records.

However, he is best known to people in the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys as the host of "Al Alberts Showcase," which ran for 32 years on 6abc.

He retired from television and moved to Port Charlotte, Florida with his wife, Stella, in December 2000.

Alberts is survived by his wife and two sons.
