How to give your wedding a royal flair

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Of course, all eyes will be on William and his bride-to-be, Kate, and the wedding is inspiring brides around the world to give their own weddings a royal flair.

You don't have to be William and Kate to throw a royal affair fit for, well, a prince and his soon-to-be princess.

The fine appointments, the fine china, the crystal, the 24 K gold plated flatware, all the finery of a royal wedding.

Tina LaMorte, owner of Oh So Fabulous! Wedding Planning and Design in New Jersey, says any bride and her bloke can deck their hall in regal décor from fine fabrics, head beaded English lace linen, to custom stationary inspired by the Windsor's royal invites.

"We did a simple, very heavy crane stock paper with gold calligraphy, and then we have a menu, of course hand written," said Tina LaMorte.

LaMorte says every bride wants to feel like a princess, so go ahead throw "her royal highness" a shower that is royally dripping in the crown jewels.

The best part about it is that even the flowers and the snacks are wearing tiaras!

Let the table names tour Britain's best known royal landmarks, and don't be afraid to get a little kitschy with the cuisine.

"We called it "ye royal snacks", with scones and snowballs and mini cupcakes here," said LaMorte.

The piece de resistance, I think, are the fabulous napkin treatments, which are Kate Middleton inspired rings. Which is oh so fabulous, and oh, so royal party favor!

Each of your guests can slip it on their finger after they take the napkin off because, let's face it, it is a pretty hot ring.

Knowing that whatever trend-setting Kate wears to Westminster Abbey will be the biggest shift in the bridal biz since Diana's big day; the pros at the Wedding Shoppe in Wayne say industry experts are already predicting the crown will make a royal comeback.

"They feel that she will wear a tiara out of respect for the Queen, and so we bought some tiaras coming in for next season," said Patti Lamantia.

Everyone is going to want a crown.
