Local Police Arrest "Sweet Tooth Dope Dealers"

Tuesday, December 13, 2005

Police arrested three drug suspects known as the "Sweet Tooth Dope Dealers" for making deliveries in cupcake boxes, authorities said.

Faraz Aftab, 23, and Jimmy Kuriakos Kudakachira, 21, both of Philadelphia, and Michael T. Joseph, 22, of Croydon, were arrested Saturday and jailed at the Delaware County Prison on $1 million bail each. They face charges including possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy.

More than $100,000 in cocaine, $3,000 in cash, and other evidence were confiscated at a parking garage and at Aftab's apartment, police said. Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said the suspects had a DARE tag on one vehicle, a Pennsylvania Drug Association Investigation decal on another and carried Fraternal Order of Police courtesy cards.

An arranged drug buy took place Nov. 26, when one ounce of cocaine was delivered in a Tastykake cupcake box for $1,000, police said. It couldn't immediately be determined if the suspects had attorneys.
