January 4, 2006 -- Repeated bomb threats are making very tough times at Truman High School in Bristol, Bucks County.
With 7 bomb threats within the last two weeks at Truman High School, students and parents are getting frustrated. They got to voice their concerns with school officials. At times it got heated. For the 100 or so parents who came to the meeting, the bomb threats have them on edge. Karen Zielinski/Parent: "I want to make sure we're not taking it too lightly..." Most parents feel school officials are keeping them properly informed and handling the bomb threat appropriately. But a few like Currie Markam are mad. She's upset she had to hear about Wednesday's from the media. Currie Markam/Parent: "I call here....here again today...someone is getting their stories mixed up." School Principal Ruth Geisel understands the frustration. She's frustrated. Ruth Geisel/Principal: "Communication is the key and we'll do a better job." Of the 7 bomb threats, one was found written on a bathroom stall. Another was found in a note on a desk. Five others were phoned into 911. Police suspect students are behind the threats made inside the school. Police do have some evidence their now analyzing on the phone calls. School officials and police warn whoever is responsible will be prosecuted. Chief Jim McAndrew/Bristol Twp Police: "The more it happens, more pressure on the judges to send these kids away." As police investigate, school officials are asking parents to talk with their kids and students to report anything they hear about the threats. With tighter security at the school and all bags and students searched, students are getting fed up as well. James Mercer/Senior: "It's annoying, just wish they would stop." There is a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever is responsible. The reward now stands at $300.
