January 12, 2006 -- New Jersey: Come See for Yourself. That's the phrase Governor Codey hopes will persuade vacationers to spend their time and money in the Garden State.
The slogan was the top choice among more than eleven-thousand telephone, fax and online votes cast for five choices. In the end, voters decided it was better not to tell people to "Expect the Unexpected," or have "Love at First Sight," or enjoy "The Real Deal," or discover "The Best Kept Secret."
The contest came about after Codey rejected a marketing company's slogan of "New Jersey: We'll Win You Over."
About eight-thousand ideas were offered, including "New Jersey: You Got a Problem With That?"
