Unity Day in Philadelphia

Sunday, August 20, 2006

Thousands of people are gathered in Center City for Unity Day Sunday... an event aimed at promoting family life and curbing crime.

It is a celebration of family and of pride. It's a multi-cultural gathering and a darn-right-fun festival that we all know it as Unity Day.

Gospel music filled the air. It was just one of many free concerts being performed on the Ben Franklin Parkway Sunday.

This event all started 28 years ago and has grown into a huge annual festival.

Thousands of people strolled the parkway listening to the music, sampling the yummy food, and of course having their faces painted.

Overall it's just a great day to enjoy all of the sights and sounds and spend time with friends and family.
