PHILADELPHIA - August 28, 2006 -- State Representative John Myers is waiting anxiously for any word about his kidnapped son.
Police say 26-year-old Shamari Taylor was shoved into a van by a group of seven to ten men Saturday night and remains missing today.
Investigators believe the kidnapping is connected to the robbery and shooting of the missing man's mother and sister.
Authorities say two men entered the West Philadelphia home of Taylor's family on Sunday night, shot the women and left with thousands of dollars in cash.
Taylor's 56-year-old mother was shot in the head and remains in critical but stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
His 21-year-old sister was shot in the shoulder. She was treated Sunday and released.
Police Lieutenant John Walker says the two crimes are clearly connected.
Myers, a Philadelphia Democrat, has been a vocal advocate for gun-control legislation.
