BETHLEHEM, Pa. - September 13, 2006 (WPVI) -- Police say the mother of a 5-year-old boy neglected to take him to the dentist for so long, the boy had to have 12 teeth pulled including all of his molars.
Forty-three-year-old Eneida Resto is facing child endangerment charges. She was put in prison on $25,000 bail. Resto is slated to have a hearing next week.
The boy, who is Resto's foster son, had been complaining of pains and headaches since the summer of 2005.
The child's dentist called police. He says it would have taken two to three years of neglect, for a child's teeth to be in such bad condition. The dentist also said that if the teeth weren't removed, the boy could have faced up to 6 months in the hospital recovering from abcesses.
