COATESVILLE, Pa. (AP) - May 27, 2007 -- Authorities say a boiler explosion at a metal plating plant in Chester County critically injured three workers, one of whom later died.
The three workers suffered serious burns yesterday in the 9:45 p-m blast at the melt shop at Mittal Steel, formerly I-S-G Plate, in the old Lukens Steel complex in South Coatesville.
Two men were flown to the burn unit at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where a hospital official says one died during the night. The other injured worker was listed in critical condition. A third man was taken to Temple Hospital's burn unit, where he remained in critical condition.
A company spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment this evening.
