Moving Day for College Freshmen

Thursday, August 23, 2007

Students at Temple University started arriving today for the new semester. With a little help from their parents they spent the day hauling all of their belongings into dorm rooms.

It was the same scene at LaSalle and Philadelphia University. It's move in day for freshman, with a big assist from mom and dad.

Vans, trucks, even U-Haul trailers carried the bare essentials for members of the class of 2011.

The challenge is to get all the stuff - the bedding and fridges and TVs - into dorm rooms about the size of a shoebox. In the end most everything seems to fit. Next step: getting use to communal life in 1960s vintage dorms with the facilities are down the hall.

But the incoming freshmen seemed up to challenge - excited to start a fresh new chapter in their lives.
