October 2, 2007 (WPVI) -- It's called Meet Market Adventures. From the ordinary to the very unique, the company offers activities that can turn dating upside down.
A new way to get to know people is adding some spice to the social scene in Philadelphia.
On one Wednesday night in Center City, we found some ladies doing something for the first time -- pole dancing.
"It's different. Something I would have never tried," said one woman.
"Fun things that catch your attention, but you don't necessarily on an average weekend go out and do," said another.
If you've been striking out in the social scene, Meet Market Adventures could be your solution. The concept is taking socializing to the next level.
"It's just a nice outlet to meet new people that otherwise you might not have met in your life," said owner Jimmy Lynett.
Lynett said this group is not just about the dating game. Instead, it is social networking with a twist.
"What were about is really bringing together singles that are like-minded in an environment that is no pressure," he said.
Meet Market just recently hit the Philadelphia social scene this year. Lynett said the concept came from his years of working on a cruise ship.
"We know how to run different entertainment, different activities that make people have a good time, break them out of there shell really," Lynett explained.
And it's working. Membership has grown two-fold.
"We just keep it pressure free its all about the social aspect," Lynett said.
Meet Market, uses a pay as you play concept. Lynett said without the pressure to join a group, it gives singles an opportunity to only do activities their actually interested in. Ninety-five percent of the singles come solo, so don't be nervous about going alone.
Prices for the events range anywhere from twelve dollars to twelve hundred dollars depending on whether you're going to a comedy show or going on a cruise. Some events coming up including chocolate making and flying lessons.
