Dairy truck crash briefly closes Pa. Turnpike

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - February 15, 2008 (WPVI) -- A dairy truck accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike left a 10-mile trail of spilled fuel, forcing the closing of the westbound lanes from the Delaware Valley to the Philadelphia interchange.

State Police say about Friday morning at three, a dairy truck slammed into a wall along the side of the road in Bristol Township, Bucks County.

The force of the collision shot the engine like a cannon shell out of the truck.

Part of the truck dangled over the Newportville Road overpass.

There's no word on the condition of the truck driver.

Police closed the westbound lanes of the highway so hazardous material crews can clean up the fuel spill and so the truck can be towed, but have since reopened the lanes.
