Moon man arrested for abandoning kids

MOON, Pa. (AP) - April 3, 2008 -- A 23-year-old Moon Township father is in jail after police found his three young children home alone, living in squalor and surviving on frozen french fries and Mountain Dew.

Chad Victor Braun has been arraigned on three counts of endangering the welfare of children.

According to court documents, police went to the home on March 21 after a call from a social worker.

The documents say the children, aged 2, 3 and 4, were malnourished and living in deplorable conditions. Police noticed rubber tubing on bedroom doors, apparently aimed at preventing the children from leaving.

The affidavit says a doctor found several bruises and injuries on the 3-year-old's hands. Police say his elder brother told them the boy hurt himself trying to get out of the room.
