Police: Wii robbery actually a set-up

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Rocco Grossi (l) and Darryl Cebenka (r)

On Wednesday April 16, 2008 around 4:30 p.m. a Newark Police officer patrolling the parking lot of the College Square Shopping Center on Library Avenue saw two people who appeared to be arguing. When the officer intervened, the subjects stated they had just been robbed by a person with a gun.

Other officers joined the search and found the alleged robber in the shopping center a short time later. Police dogs tracked down a pellet gun and some of the suspect's clothing near a trash compactor in the shopping center.

Police later learned that 19-year-old, Darryl Justin Cebenka and 20-year-old Rocco Grossi, both of Wilmington, staged the whole thing. Cebenka posed as the buyer and Grossi carried out the robbery in order to get the victim's Wii for nothing.

Both face robbery-related charges and are now at the Howard Young Correctional Facility.
