Delaware principal facing sex charges

DOVER, Del. - May 2, 2008 (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police Detectives have filed sex charges against a high school principal in connection with a 17-year old female student.

Dana I. Goodman, 38, of August Street in Easton, Maryland, was arrested this afternoon after detectives from the State Police implicated him in the rape of a student attending Sussex Central High School. Mr. Goodman is the principal there and detectives understand the contact, which was consensual, began in the early part of January of this year. The last contact was approximately a week ago.

This investigation was launched when an anonymous tip was sent to the school district via a letter.

Goodman was formally charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, thirty counts of 4th degree rape and sexual abuse of a child, all felonies.

This investigation revealed Goodman and the student met at various locations in Sussex and Kent counties.

Goodman was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $331,000 cash only bail.
