McNabb helps hypertension awareness

June 18, 2008 (WPVI) -- Donovan McNabb is always focused on football, but today he was focused on hypertension.

Wednesday afternoon, Donovan McNabb showed the football field is not the only place that gets his blood pumping.

Donovan's mother Wilma, a registered nurse has lost 40 pounds in her battle with high blood pressure; his father, Sam, has done nearly the same.

Both encourage others, regardless of income, to get checked before it's too late.

No group is nore affected by high blood pressure than the African American community.

While the McNabbs took center stage, health partners took advantage of the celebrity presence and opened its doors for free blood screenings and pressure checks.
