A folk ethos likewise infuses the music of Dvorák; the latter credited Brahms with the success of his career, as the elder composer encouraged him greatly. The famous Violin Concerto of Brahms is performed by the incomparable Gil Shaham.

His musical talents range far beyond '60's pop, and he brings it all to the stage at Theatre 1894 in Sellersville Friday night. In this show, he talks about his days with The Monkees, but he also shows his range as a musician and performer. By the way, Tork will reunite with the other remaining members of the Monkees, Mickey Dolenz and Michael Nesmith, for a show July 20th an the man center in Fairmount park. Morris Arboretum
    Chestnut Hill
The ever-popular garden railway returns with its summer grand opening on Saturday. Visitors of all ages will be wowed by a quarter mile of track featuring seven loops and tunnels with fifteen different rail lines and two cable cars, nine bridges (including a trestle bridge you can walk under!), and bustling model trains, all set in the lovely winter garden of the Morris Arboretum. The display and buildings are all made of natural materials - bark, leaves, twigs, hollow logs, mosses, acorns, dried flowers, seeds and stones - to form a perfectly proportioned miniature landscape complete with miniature rivers. Each building, while an exact replica of the original, is unique in its design. Philadelphia-area landmarks such as a masterpiece replica of Independence Hall are made using pine cone seeds for shingles, acorns as finials and twigs as downspouts. Free with tour regular admission.

Originally known as Decoration Day, an occasion to honor soldiers who gave their lives during the American Civil War, the Memorial Day civic holiday now honors all members of the military who have given their lives in defense of the Constitution and its legacy of freedom. During Memorial Day weekend, the National Constitution Center will pay tribute to those brave men and women by exploring how Americans honor our military heroes. The American flag will be raised each morning during a special ceremony at the Center; guests are invited to join in to learn proper flag-raising protocol. During the special program "Memorials: How a Nation Remembers," visitors will learn about monuments across the country, including Little Bighorn, the U.S.S. Arizona, and the Lincoln Memorial. As the home of Pennsylvania's Liberty Tree, the Center will honor its "birthday" with the compelling story of this living memorial. Visitors can sing their favorite American anthems during "Patriotic Karaoke"; create memorial poppy pins, American flags, and American star memorial wreaths; and write letters to soldiers stationed overseas.
