Fumo aide pleads guilty - Philadelphia News

Monday, August 11, 2008

A technician accused of destroying years worth of state Senate computer records for indicted Sen. Vincent Fumo has pleaded guilty to 29 obstruction-related counts and will testify against the Democratic powerbroker.

The guilty plea Monday makes former Senate employee Leonard Luchko the lone defendant in the four-person Fumo indictment to plead.

The 52-year-old Luchko, of Collingdale, admitted he conspired with others to delete years worth of Fumo-related e-mails.

Fumo heads to trial next month on 139 fraud- and corruption-related counts.

Fumo is charged with defrauding the state, a museum and a nonprofit of more than $2 million. He is stepping down after 30 years in the Senate to fight the charges.
