CENTER CITY - September 1, 2008 (WPVI) -- For the past 25 years, kids have shopped at the supermarket, had tea with Alice in Wonderland, and pumped iron for their parents.
"I like the slide and I like the supermarket," 6-year-old Courtney Simon said.
"[I like to] just to stretch the imagination as far it can go; it's just a fun place," 9-year-old Dante Pavan said.
The place is about to get a new $88-million space at the magnificent Memorial Hall at Fairmount Park, which they've been refurbishing for the past three years.
The building was actually the first site of the Art Museum in Philadelphia."Kid are going to feel like they're walking into a big castle when they come in and then inside is going to be all for them; it's a wonderful destination for families," Frank Luzi of the Please Touch Museum said.
The new Please Touch Museum will have about 40,000 square feet of exhibit space.
Many of the favorite toys and objects at the museum here at 21st and Race Streets will be moved there.
The Please Touch Museum is unique and special to so many because it really allows kids just to be kids compared with the traditional style of other museums.
The museum will reopen at its new location October 18.
