Workes lift 2 ton slab after accident

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Investigators tell Action News that a boost of adrenaline helped workers lift a two ton concrete slab after it fell on a co-worker.

It happened in Center City, Philadelphia around 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The fire department was called to a construction site after the 4,100 pound slab fell off the back of a truck and landed on the construction worker's pelvic area.

That's when, investigators say, the other workers sprang into action and managed to pick up the concrete.

The victim is in the hospital with a broken hip. He was last reported in stable condition.
