5-year-old Zion Duprey was taken by his father Angel D. Duprey, police say. Anyone with information on their whereabouts are asked to call police.
MIDDLETOWN, Del. - June 30, 2009 (WPVI) -- Authorities have located a child allegedly abducted by his father this weekend in Delaware.
5-year-old Zion Duprey was found early Tuesday morning. U.S. Marshals tracked his father, Angel D. Duprey, to a motel in Mt Laurel, New Jersey. Zion was located and his father was taken into custody.
Zion is reportedly in good health.
Police say at approximately 12:28 p.m. Saturday June 27, 2009 Angel drove to the 8300 block of Collet Lane in Lincoln, Delaware where his 3 children reside with their mother and grandmother.
Angel allegedly entered the unlocked front door unnoticed and walked to the rear of the residence where the grandmother and 4 children (3 of which are his) were located.
The suspect grabbed his 5-year-old son, Zion. The victim's grandmother tried to take Zion back, but Angel swung at her with the back of his hand. The grandmother wasn't hit, but it was enough for Angel to escape from the home with Zion.
An hour after an Amber Alert was issued authorities recovered Angel's car, abandoned in Middletown, Delaware on the ramp from northbound Route 1 to Route 299.
Police will be holding a press conference today to address the return of Zion and the disposition of his father.
Angel has an active protection from abuse order issued on June 19, 2009 from Pennsylvania, which prohibits him from contact with his girlfriend or their three children. Police have not yet announced what charges he will face.
