Body found of missing man in Darby Creek

Sunday, October 04, 2009

Folcroft Police have confirmed that at around 12:30 this afternoon they found the body of a missing man.

Rescue boats from the township made the discovery.

Police tell Action News the 26-year-old Folcroft man had been sitting on a boat ramp near the water, apparently drinking with several friends. Those friends say the man fell into the water once and was able to get out.

But when he fell in a second time, he did not resurface.

The friends found someone with a cell phone and called 9-1-1.

Authorities tell Action News the search effort was hampered by the darkness and the water itself.

The Police Department and Marine units were out searching all night and morning for the missing man.

At around 11:30 a.m. dog teams were dispatched to the area.

Ultimately, it was the township rescue boats who discovered the body in the Darby Creek.

The name of the man has not been released.
