Funeral services set for slain police officer

Public funeral services have been set for Police Officer Robert Lasso.

Lasso was with the Freemansburg Police Department in Northampton.

The Bethlehem father of two was shot and killed Thursday responding to a domestic disturbance.

George Hitcho Junior is charged in the murder.

Services will be held at 9:00am Tuesday at the Spartan Center on the Northampton Community College campus in Bethlehem Township..

Many mourners are expected.

The Heights Community Federal Credit Union and Wawa stores in Northampton County are collecting donations to help Lasso's family.

Donations are being accepted in person or by mail at Heights Community Federal Credit Union, 3530 Freemansburg Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18020.

Wawa customers can contribute by purchasing a donation coupon for $1 at stores in Bethlehem, Easton, Fountain Hill, Lower Nazareth Township and Palmer Township.

In addition to the in-store collection campaign, Wawa Inc. will donate $2,000 to the Robert Lasso Children's College Fund.

Wawa will collect donations through Aug. 22.
