SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - September 25, 2011 (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer is hospitalized after an accident in Southwest Philadelphia.
It happened around 8:30 Sunday morning on the 5800 block of Thomas Street. Reports indicate that the officer was responding to a call when the cruiser collided with a civilian vehicle. The impact of the crash also caused the officer to strike a parked car and a pole and sent the civilian vehicle into a wall. The 12th District police officer was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after complaints of pain. The driver of the civilian vehicle was also taken to the hospital. Both are listed in stable condition.
