Franklin Institute prepares for expansion

PHILADELPHIA - April 5, 2012 (WPVI) -- The expansion at the Franklin Institute is officially underway.

They held an unconventional ground breaking ceremony in Center City Thurday.

The project is a 53,000 square foot expansion.

It will feature a conference center, and a new permanent exhibit called "Your Brain".

It is expected to open in 2014.

A $10 million dollar donation helped to fund the project.
