NORTH PHILADELPHIA - April 20, 2012 (WPVI) -- A man was struck and killed by a SEPTA shuttle bus on Friday morning in North Philadelphia.
The accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. at 8th Street and Girard Avenue.
Authorities say the SEPTA bus stopped to pick up passengers at a nearby bus stop.
As the bus started to leave, 62-year-old William Bogl tried to get to the bus but fell. He was run over by the vehicle's rear tires.
Bogl suffered severe head trauma and was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
According to SEPTA, the shuttle bus was being used for the eastbound Route 15 Trolley.
No one on the bus was injured.
An investigation is ongoing.
