Atlantic County woman crowned Miss New Jersey

Sunday, June 17, 2012

An Atlantic County woman has been crowned Miss New Jersey.

Lindsey Petrosh of Egg Harbor City won the title Saturday night at the Ocean City Music Pier, beating out 24 other contestants. The first runner-up was 19-year-old Kaitlyn Schoeffel of Egg Harbor Township.

The 23-year-old Petrosh, a graduate student at Rowan University, sang a rousing version of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" in the talent competition. Her platform was support of volunteerism.

Petrosh won a $10,000 scholarship and will compete in the Miss America Pageant, which will be held in Las Vegas in January.

She succeeds last year's winner, Katharyn Nicolle of Wenonah.
