KENSINGTON - August 11, 2012 (WPVI) -- Police are investigating the beating death of a man in Kensington that they say appears to stem from an argument.
Police say the victim was coming down Cambria Street in his SUV when something happened that sparked and argument between him and two other men.
Philadelphia police were on the scene at East Cambria and Emerald Streets in Kensington minutes after investigators say a fit of road rage turned deadly early Saturday morning.
Police say two men, one armed with a tire iron brutally attacked 41 year old Roberto Perez of Frankford around 5am.
"It's senseless for people to go and do stuff like that to people," said Evelyn Gonzalez. "Do they even think? Do they have family?"
Perez's was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics say his head injuries were very severe.
The man's landlords of his Fillmore Street home say they've known the husband and father for years.
"He was a wonderful person, well respected around here. It's sad that people go out like that. I couldn't even believe it. I haven't even seen his wife. I just feel so bad," Gonzalez said.
Investigators haven't said why they believe road rage contributed to the killing, but the window of Perez's Chevy Suburban was smashed out.
Police are looking for a champagne colored Honda and a Burgundy Ford Expedition seen speeding away from the scene.
"People are out there killing people over letting a car go. You can let a car go; it's an object. It's not a life," said Carolyn Vanagaitis.
Homicide detectives are looking for tips that could help them solve this case.
