SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - September 4, 2012 (WPVI) -- A man was gunned down Tuesday morning, shot in the head in the Bella Vista section of South Philadelphia.
The shooting happened just before 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of 12th and Bainbridge streets.
The victim, 24-year-old Jay McKee, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses tell police they saw a dark colored van fleeing the scene.
So far, there is no word on suspects or a motive as police continue their investigation.
Family members say McKee was suppose to return to Philadelphia Community College soon.
They say he had the nickname "Elevator" because his jumping ability on the basketball court.
