NEW CASTLE, Del. - October 8, 2012 (WPVI) -- A New Castle County woman is trying to locate a Good Samaritan so she can say thank you with a financial reward.
Carol Felton was getting ready for church Sunday when she heard loud knocking just before 8:00 a.m. in her New Castle home.
At first, she was reluctant to open the front door.
"I peeked out the window and he was holding up the wallet," Carol said.
Turns out the wallet belonged to her son Newton Felton who had unknowingly dropped it on the street when he stopped by his mother's home the previous night.
The 30-year-old event planner had just come from a job and admits up until now anyway he kept just about everything in his wallet - ID, credit cards, business contacts, and $300 in cash. If it fell into the wrong hands, well.
"All my information, where I live, social security numbers, so they could easily use my information," Newton said.
Carol explains the man handed her the wallet, turned around, and left.
She was so surprised by his deed, it took her a moment to decide she should reward him, but it was too late.
"Just like an angel. Just walking right around see him then you don't, he's gone," Carol said.
"You know where you found the wallet at. If you come by that location, I do have a reward $100. We also have a big New Years Eve event at Lincoln Financial Field, we've got two tickets waiting for you," Newton said.
Carol says oftentimes stories of lost wallets don't come with happy endings. She's grateful to this man for providing one.
"I hope they find him, just to give him a little blessing to let him know people do care, when people do the right thing people care. I care," Carol said.
