PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. - November 21, 2012 (WPVI) -- Police in New Jersey found a dead cat on the doorstep of a local high school, and they think a football rivalry could be to blame.
The animal was laying just outside Phillipsburg High School on Tuesday.
Police say it could be related to Thursday's football game between Phillipsburg and Easton Area High School.
Police in Northampton County, Pennsylvania say the Easton Red Rover statue was stolen last week and returned on Monday.
Police say the decision to press charges is up to the high school.
