NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -December 21, 2012 (WPVI) -- Gov. Chris Christie has pardoned a New Jersey woman who went straight after years of drug addiction.
Christie says Joyce Holman embodies his belief that "no life is disposable."
Christie's office says the 59-year-old mother of two abused drugs for 25 years. The Piscataway resident also shoplifted, passed bad checks and went to jail for drug possession.
After she got out of jail in the early 1990s, Holman obtained her high school diploma and college degree. She has worked as an X-ray technician ever since.
Holman sought the pardon because she wants to retire to Virginia and believes it would be easier to find a part-time job without a criminal record.
