Sinkhole repaired, Market St. Bridge reopens

Friday, March 08, 2013

The westbound lanes of the Market Street Bridge in University City have reopened after being closed Friday morning due to a sinkhole.

Police shut down the westbound lanes of the bridge around 10:30 a.m. due to what they say were dangerous road conditions.

Police described the sinkhole as large and expanding.

Crews were able to do a temporary fix to the 3-foot hole in the bridge deck and will be making permanent repairs next week.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., police announced that lanes reopened on the bridge.
