Police chase in Germantown ends with crash

A brief police pursuit in Philadelphia's Germantown section ended with a crash.

The chase culminated at Morton and East Rittenhouse streets around 8:30 p.m. when the car being sought slammed into a tree.

The chase began near the same scene.

During the pursuit, police believe an item was tossed from the vehicle.

Both occupants in the car, a man and woman believed to be in their late 40's to early 50's, suffered injuries.

They were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center for care.

Both are stable.

There is no word yet on why the duo was fleeing from police.
