LEVITTOWN, Pa. (AP) - August 3, 2013 (WPVI) -- Police say that at first there didn't appear to be anything suspicious about the body of a man found in a Bucks County park.
But he was wearing several layers of clothing and gloves, Middletown Detective Patrick Nicastro said. And beside him was a small blue LED flashlight, and a set of keys was in his sock, though he carried no identification, police told the Bucks County Courier Times.
He also had tattoos, including one that appeared to be a last name. Nicastro did some research online and figured out that the man who had died was a 41-year-old Philadelphia resident under investigation for a series of burglaries.
The man's body was found in a park that sits across the street from a home that was burglarized last week, Nicastro said. That suspect left no fingerprints and only took the most valuable jewelry, he said.
Authorities matched the keys to a Honda parked at a nearby development. Inside, they found the man's wallet, a pry bar, about $600 in cash and a substance they suspect is heroin, authorities said.
And under a seat, they found two watches that had been stolen from the homeowners who live across from the park.
Police now believe the man may have been headed back into the neighborhood with burglary on his mind when he died of a drug overdose.
"I know he was going back out there to do burglary, no doubt," Nicastro told the paper. "There was no other reason for him to be there."
The man's identity hasn't been released.
