Kidnapping added to charges against teen attempted rape suspect in Lansdale

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Prosecutors have added kidnapping to the list of charges against a homeless Salvadoran teen accused of trying to rape a woman in Lansdale.

16-year-old Herson Guardado waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Guardado, an El Salvador national, was wearing a ski mask when he grabbed a 25-year-old woman as she was trying to put her 3-year-old into a car seat.

It happened on the afternoon of Monday January 13th at Stoney Creek Park.

The woman told police her attacker grabbed her, put a knife to her side and tried to drag her into the woods while telling her he wanted to have sex with her.

She broke free and called police.

Officers tracked down Guardado a short time later with the help of K-9 units. They say he was carrying a ski mask, a knife and some marijuana.

He remains behind bars on $99,000 cash bail.
