Stranded cow didn't need any water

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Local officials in McAlester, Oklahoma are arranging to bring food to a stranded cow.

But they say the cow has plenty of water. In fact, that's why it's stranded.

The cow somehow made its way onto a tiny island in Lake Eufala.

A sheriff says the animal probably wandered onto a spit of high land when water levels were recently low, and then became stranded when the water rose.

It could be a week or two before the cow is able to walk back to shore. In the meantime, local National Guard troops might try an udder approach -- perhaps mooo-ving the animal by helicopter.
