Police: Utah man bound, tortured by roommates

MAGNA, Utah (AP) - May 22, 2012 (WPVI) -- A Utah man's roommates have been arrested after police say they tied him up, stapled his lips shut, and tortured him with a power tool over the weekend.

Police tell The Salt Lake Tribune the roommates accused the 41-year-old man of provoking other people to threaten them with guns on the street.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal says six men and women held the roommate at gunpoint in their Magna, Utah, home, handcuffed him, stapled his ears and chest, and used a Dremel tool to cut him Saturday night.

Hoyal says the group decided at about 4 a.m. to release him.

The man fled to his sister's house and was taken to a hospital.
