Getting discounts on pricey beauty products
Skin care and beauty products can be very pricey and many brands rarely go on sale. Action News has found a way you can get these items at a discount
One big issue for women is finding the products that work best and look best on them. The problem is those tiny samples you get often aren't enough to really test out a product and so many new products hit the market every day, it's hard to keep up! So we found a company that's come up with a solution.
Here's a way to discover the latest and greatest in beauty products.
Have a special, surprise beauty box delivered to your doorstep every month.
It's called Birchbox.
"They sign up for Birchbox and pay $10 a month to receive an assortment of 4 to 5 deluxe beauty samples," Birchbox cofounder and beauty expert Katia Beauchamp said.
Here's an example of the kinds of things you might find in your Birchbox: cleaner, nail polish, shine spray, hand cream and even a little snack..
"Customers fill out a short beauty profile and that's how we decide what boxes go to them so the boxes are actually customized based on your skin type, hair color, and even your trend preferences," Beauchamp said.
It's also a way you can shop smarter and save.
"It's a deluxe sample so the idea is that it's reusable and you actually get to interact with the product for enough time to see if you really do want to commit," Beauchamp said.
So with Birchbox, no more product graveyard - buying things you never end up using or returning.
You only buy what you love.
"Hair, skin, makeup, fragrance, nails and then different kinds of brands, big brands, newly launching brands," Beauchamp said.
After trying the deluxe samples in your beauty box, you can buy full sized products on Birchbox, but save by using loyalty points.
"Through our loyalty program, you can earn points that give you $10 giftcards to spend on our site," Beauchamp said.
100 points equals $10.
And you can earn points pretty quickly. You get 110 points for signing up for a yearly membership. 50 points for getting a friend to sign up. 10 points for every feedback survey you fill out. One point for every dollar you spend.
You can sign up monthly and cancel anytime or sign up for three months at a time or more.
Birchbox also makes a great gift idea and no one says you can't give the gift to yourself.
We're not finished yet!
You can also now get expensive skin care products for a lot less!
Center City aesthetician Anthony Guerrera struck a deal with luxury beauty companies to become a certified dealer and now he's passing the savings to you!
You all have to do is go to his website o2skincarelounge.com.
Dermalogica, Luzern and Cellex-C are just some of the brands offered at up to 30-percent off.
Think moisturizers, toner, cleansers, even acne and anti-aging serums at rock bottom prices you'll be hard pressed to find anyplace else.
"Everybody deserves great skin and I am able to give these at a discount," Guerrera said.
And here's one last saving tip, I just did this myself. I called the headquarters of my favorite brand directly and asked for a few samples.
Lo and behold, the brand sent me a giant box full of samples which lasted me an entire year. It's definitely a phone call worth making.
