LSU LB Alexander likely out for regular season
LSU freshman linebacker Kwon Alexander, who has started the last two games at strongside linebacker, likely will miss the rest of the regular season with a foot injury, Tigers coach Les Miles said Monday.
BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU freshman linebacker Kwon Alexander, who started the past two games at strongside linebacker, likely will miss the rest of the regular season with a foot injury, Tigers coach Les Miles said Monday.Alexander suffered the injury in the third quarter of Saturday's 14-6 loss to Florida.
"He is probably out for the rest of the regular season," Miles said. "That's a shame because he was playing well."
Miles did not say what the injury was, but a published report said Alexander has a broken foot. Miles said Alexander might be able to return for a bowl game. The highest-rated player in LSU's 2012 recruiting class, Alexander had 11 tackles, one for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while getting his most substantial playing time in the past two games. He began starting after junior Luke Muncie, who started the first three games, told reporters he had a stomach illness that had caused him to lose weight. Muncie has played in the past two games exclusively on special teams until Alexander was injured. Muncie got in the game at linebacker after Alexander left, but was relieved by another freshman, Lamar Louis. "The good news is Luke is back," Miles said.
