Cincinnati coach Butch Jones continues to weigh his options concerning his future with the Bearcats.Jones has interviewed at Purdue and Colorado in the past few days. He is expected to make a decision regarding whether to stay at Cincinnati or take the Colorado job at some point Tuesday. Sources said Purdue is no longer in the running.
The Denver Post reported Colorado has offered Jones a five-year, $13.5 million contract. Cincinnati already had a Tuesday afternoon news conference to discuss the Bearcats' participation in the Dec. 27 Belk Bowl against Duke. Jones was on hand to talk with the media and said, "I'm still the head football coach here. I think that speaks volumes." "I think all you have to do is look at my past and the past years of what's happened and I'm still the head football coach here," Jones said. He then threatened to end the news conference if anyone else asked another question on his job status. Jones is 50-27 in six seasons at Cincinnati and Central Michigan, three at each school. This season, Cincinnati finished 9-3 and in a four-way tie for the Big East title, Jones' second league championship at UC. Information from ESPN.com's Andrea Adelson was included in this report.
