PHILADELPHIA - January 20, 2012 (WPVI) -- He's one of the all-time Philly fan favorites and now, he's back.
Fans and players were thrilled to see Jim Thome back in a Phillies uniform.
As he heads to Florida for Spring training, Thome has one goal - to win a World Series.
After two decades in the majors, the Phillies' pinch hitter is still looking forward to his first championship.
"To ride down Broad Street would be pretty amazing. I've often dreamt of that. Knowing how passionate the fans are would make it pretty cool," said Thome.
To help achieve that, he's been working out almost everyday of the off-season.
Thome has also been fielding ground balls with Ryan Howard, who is expected out until May. Thome may even be asked to play first base, something he hasn't done since 2007.
"Taking ground balls on fielf turf is different. The game speads up so you have to be prepared," he said.
Thome is doing everything in his power to train, even taking on yoga.
" I'm not a professional yoga person but I've taken to it because its helping me, he said.
He's hoping that his efforts will help him play the field.
How much he plays, he says, depends on how strong he feels in Spring training.
